The only time we slowed down is when I had to run the high groove. The car was really tight there, so the place to be for us was on the bottom of the track. The handling was great on the bottom and that gave us the opportunity to pass a lot of cars.”

By the halfway flag, the #71 was running in twelfth and was still passing cars, “The car was strong but as you know, when you get up into the top ten the lead cars are tougher to pass. We just needed to be a little patient and take the positions when we could. The late race cautions cost us some momentum because everyone was bunched up so it was more difficult to make passes on the bottom,” said the Rowley, Mass. veteran.

With only 12 laps remaining, the Grimm Racing Chevy based in Waymart, Pa. ran comfortably in the eighth position with MacDonald saying, “Of course you always want a better finish, but to finish in the eighth spot after starting so far back was satisfying. The crew really did an outstanding job to get us the finish that we had. Things did not look good in practice and qualifying but these guys never give up and it showed today.”

With the run, MacDonald moved into seventh place in the point’s race and only two points behind the sixth place car after six races. Rob Grimm also sits in seventh place in the owner point’s race as the team has posted one top five and five top ten finishes to date.

After a week off, the Grimm Racing team will next fire the engine on Saturday, June 23rd in the Visit Hampton, Va. 175 at Langley Speedway. The Slack Auto Parts 150 will be televised on Speed at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 21st.

Visit NERacingForum.Com for latest New England Racing community News and updates.

Get the latest New England Racing News in your in box, Join our Newsletter today

[adrotate block=”3″]

Eddie MacDonald started deep in the field in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Slack Auto Parts 150 At Gresham Motorsports Park then rallied to an eighth place finish on the half-mile oval.
