Return to Mount Southington Ski Area on tap for East Coast Snocross,

CLARKSBURG, Mass. (March 13, 2019) – When a relatively new venue has a special ‘feel’ and hospitality about it, there’s an increased level of excitement among race teams and fans.
This coming weekend, March 16-17, that feeling will be in the air again as East Coast Snocross (ECS) contests Rounds 12 and 13 on the 15-race schedule at the beautiful Mount Southington Ski Area in Plantsville, Connecticut.
Spectator gates open at 10 a.m. each day. Admission is $12 per day for adults or $20 for a weekend pass. Children age seven and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Pro Open and Pro Lite classes will hit the track at approximately 11:30 a.m. for first-round qualifying. Sport, Women and Junior classes will also compete for points over the weekend as the championship season winds down.
Leading the charge into Mt. Southington is current point leader and defending Pro Open champion and Fall River, Mass., native Mike Pilotte (now living in Northwood, NH). The seasoned veteran is getting close to securing his first career Pro title on the highly-competitive regional tour.
Ready to challenge Pilotte are Vermont native Bradley Tatro and Team Southside/Polaris teammate Ryan Dupont. Watching the Pro athletes in action as they defy gravity and muscle their sleds around the track is awe-inspiring.
In the Pro Lite class, Adam Levi, Adam Ashline, Dalton Jacquier and Wade Acker have all won Finals this winter and will be strong in Connecticut. Jacquier, of Canaan, Conn., will be out to record another win in his home state in front of family and friends.
Mount Southington opened in 1964 on the site of an old dairy farm. The ski area was a vision of Dr. Harold Richman, who, along with other family members and the Palmisano family, of Bristol, CT, purchased the farm, carved out trails, installed lifts and snowmaking equipment and began to create the Mount Southington Ski Area of today. After 55 years, their efforts are still making great memories.
“We’re very excited about going back to Mount Southington,” series owner Kurt Gagne said. “The staff has rolled out the red carpet for us there since day one. Our racers enjoy the terrain there and fans come out to enjoy our high-flying show. We can’t wait to roll in and get set things set up.”

East Coast Snocross, presented by Woody’s Traction and FXR, is an ISR-affiliated sanctioning body for snowmobile racing in the northeastern United States. ECS maintains a regional circuit intended to keep grassroots snocross racing healthy in this part of the country while also cultivating new talent for tomorrow’s factory-backed national Pro teams.
