Thunder Road Announces Warrior Challenge for Labor Day Sunday

Barre, VT – Thunder Road officials have announced the addition of the “Road Warrior Challenge” to the Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic on Sunday, September 1. The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors will run a 50-lap, $500-to-win feature on Labor Day Sunday – the longest and highest-paying event in the division’s history.

The Road Warrior Challenge is being held in tandem with a 30-lap feature that was previously scheduled for Four Cylinder Saturday on August 31.  The added Sunday event makes it a doubleheader weekend for Thunder Road’s entry-level division.

All cars that enter either the Saturday or Sunday Road Warrior event must be 100 percent legal according to the Thunder Road rule book. The 2019 division rules are available atwww.thunderroadvt.com/rules.

“Ever since we brought back the Road Warriors in 2017, they’ve been one of the most fun things about Thunder Road,” managing partner Cris Michaud said. “There’s a great group of drivers in the Warrior pits that always put on an entertaining show. We’re excited to put them in the spotlight so fans and potential future racers can see what they’re all about.”

The Road Warrior Challenge joins a Labor Day Sunday program that also includes the Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic 200 for the American-Canadian Tour and a 50-lap feature for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers. Post time is 1:30pm with admission set at $25 for adults and free for kids ages 12 and under.

The Labor Day Weekend begins with Four Cylinder Saturday on August 31 at 6:00pm. The card features a 50-lap event for the North East Mini Stock Tour along with 35 laps for the Allen Lumber Street Stocks and 30 laps for the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors. Saturday admission is $10 for adults and $3 for kids ages 6-12.
