When Stafford Speedway’s SK Lights last ran a 40-lap extra distance feature on July 16th last season, Peter Bennett drove his #50 FEWLR car to NAPA Victory Lane to notch what was his first career victory. After securing three top-5 finishes along with a seventh place effort in his four starts to date this season, Bennett is looking forward to the Monaco Ford SK Light Double Down 40-lap feature this Friday night, May 22nd where another victory would be his first win of the 2026 season and give him back to back extra distance feature wins.

“The 40 lappers are the races that I think everyone has circled on their calendars,” said Bennett. “It’s a really good opportunity to showcase yourself and I’m really excited for the race. Winning last year gives us a little extra confidence going in and I’ve always said I have a good long run car and 40 laps might not seem like a lot, but it is for the SK Lights when we’re used to going 20 laps. I’ve got some experience to fall back on and I’m looking forward to getting out there and seeing how the race unfolds. I don’t think last year was a fluke, we put our best effort forward and I think we can definitely do that again. The Monaco Ford Double Down is a big race and it’s for sure one of the three or four races I want to win this season and it would be awesome to win. We’ve had three top-5’s in the first four races so definitely feeling confident going into the race.”

Since his extra distance victory last season, Bennett and the #50 FEWLR team have consistently been a top-10 or top-5 car, but they have yet to find their way back into NAPA Victory Lane. Although Bennett’s best finish since his win last season has been a pair of third place finishes, he feels like he and his team are close to breaking through for their second victory at Stafford.

“We’ve been knocking on the door every week this season,” said Bennett. “Even the race that we finished outside the top-10 was only because of a flat right rear tire. We like to focus on consistency and we’ve been about as consistent as you can be so far this season and I think it’s only a matter of time before we start turning some of these third and fourth place finishes into wins. Winning races definitely gets your momentum going and your confidence up. I remember the first race after we won last season it felt like a giant 1,000 pound monkey had been taken off my back because I had been wanting so bad to get that first win out of the way. Getting the first win of a season is probably the most challenging and once you get that you can ride that wave of momentum. I’d love to get our first win of the season in the Monaco Double Down, but the SK Lights are a really challenging division with a lot of really good cars. If I win a race, I’m going to have to earn it, no doubt.”

With a worst finish of seventh through the first four races of the season, Bennett and his team find themselves right in the thick of the championship race, sitting fourth, 22 points behind Chris Matthews going into the Monaco Ford SK Light Double Down. While Bennett isn’t thinking about points at this early stage of the season, he would like to maintain his close proximity to the leaders so he can be a championship contender come the end of the season.

While Bennett put up numbers that most any driver would say was a great season last year with 1 win, 7 top-5, and 13 top-10 finishes in 17 races, his 4 top-7 finishes in the first 4 races of this season has been boosted by his new partnership with FEWLR, The Auction App for Heating Oil. FEWLR came on board prior to the start of the 2026 season to join Bennett’s roster of sponsors and has made a big difference for him and the #50 team.

“Having FEWLR come on board with us has been a big difference maker for us,” said Bennett. “The partnership we’ve developed with FEWLR over the past couple months has been really cool and they’re very involved with racing. It’s nice to have a partner like that who is invested in me and what we’ve got going on. They’re rooting for my success and I’m at the same time rooting for their success. In addition to FEWLR, I also have to thank my other sponsors GRE6 Racing, Tri-State Drilling and Blasting, TC Facility Services, Advanced Auto Repair, Grampa Howie’s Hot Relish, and The Media Men as well as my crew Chris, Ray, Kody, and Brett.”

Bennett will look to capture his first win of the 2026 season this Friday, May 22nd in the Monaco Ford SK Light Double Down. The SK Lights will be joined by Stafford’s SK Modified, Late Model, Limited Late Model, and Street Stock divisions in feature action.
