LOCK CITY DRIFT, NEW ENGLAND STREET OUTLAW SERIES (NESOS) TO COMPETE UNDER THE LIGHTS 

THOMPSON, Conn. — Through partnerships with Lock City Drift and the New England Street Outlaw Series, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is pleased to announce Friday night Drift & Drags under the lights for seven events in 2020.  

The combination of the two series will give fans a chance to spend their Friday night watching the slipping, sliding and smoking of drift cars and the raw speed of drag machines going 250 feet down the stretch. Beginning in April, and ending in October, race fans can catch both in the same night for just $15 admission.

TEN DIVISION LINEUP ANNOUNCED FOR 46TH ANNUAL LIQUID DEATH ICEBREAKER WEEKEND 

PRACTICE FRIDAY; RACING SATURDAY & SUNDAY APRIL 4-5 INCLUDES NASCAR WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR 

THOMPSON, Conn. — Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park announced on Wednesday that 10 divisions will compete in the 46th annual Liquid Death Icebreaker weekend, April 3-5. The event begins with a Test & Tune practice on Friday, followed by two days of action to begin the New England racing season. 

The event also marks the official beginning of Thompson’s 80th year celebration. 

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns for the 35th consecutive season and headlines the weekend with the Death To Plastic 150 presented by Liquid Death on Sunday. Justin Bonsignore took three of the four races at TSMP last season, and has won seven of the last eight, while names like Craig Lutz, Ron Silk and Woody Pitkat will be looking to take him off the top. Defending tour champion Doug Coby is opening a new race team and will compete as both the owner and driver, as the Milford, Connecticut, native has six Thompson wins to his credit, including the Bud 150 last year. 

Thompson’s five NASCAR Weekly Racing Series divisions will begin their championship quest, as the Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, SK Light Modifieds, Limited Sportsman and Mini Stocks open with qualifying and feature racing. Each weekly series division will run a night of 20/20 racing in 2020 – with double 20-lap features planned, beginning with the Late Models at the Icebreaker. The Late Models will run one feature on Saturday and one Sunday.

THOMPSON, Conn. — Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park today announced that Liquid Death Mountain Water will be the sponsor of the 46th annual Icebreaker weekend, April 3-5, and has also joined as a sponsor for the entire 2020 season. 

Liquid Death puts water, the healthiest beverage on earth, into aluminum cans, the most sustainable container on earth. With a mission to get people to drink more water, Liquid Death is creating one of the first sustainable alternatives to plastic bottled water – while making it fun and entertaining with their name choice. 

Thompson Speedway’s Icebreaker is the annual beginning of the New England racing season, with a practice session on Friday, and two days of racing, headlined by the second race of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. The Whelen Modified Tour event will be titled the Liquid Death 150 and will take place on Sunday afternoon, airing live on NBC Sports Gold’s TrackPass platform and tape delayed on NBCSN. 

Following the Icebreaker, Liquid Death will continue with the track for the duration of the 80th season of racing.

Thompson Speedway Joins Late Model Challenge Cup Program

Waterbury, VT – Drivers going after the 2020 New England Late Model Challenge Cup (NELMCC) presented by American Racer now have another venue and state in which to chase the title. American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Thompson Speedway officials announced today that the Connecticut track has joined the NELMCC program for its inaugural season.

Thompson Speedway becomes the fifth track affiliated with the weekly racing program. The 5/8-mile speedway joins Vermont’s Thunder Road Speedbowl, New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park and Star Speedway, and Massachusetts’ Seekonk Speedway. Thompson’s addition also means tracks from four different states will be represented in the NELMCC presented by American Racer.

THOMPSON SPEEDWAY MOTORSPORTS PARK REVEALS 2020 NASCAR SCHEDULE 
46th Annual Icebreaker Set For April 4-5 

THOMPSON, Conn. — Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park revealed a six-race NASCAR Weekly Series schedule for the 2020 season on Monday.  

The 2020 slate consists of three major staple events, and three more events that will spotlight NASCAR Weekly Series competitors as part of mid-week, Wednesday night specials in the heart of the summer. 

The season begins with the 46th annual Icebreaker weekend (April 4-5) and ends with the 58th annual Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing, with three packed days, October 9-11.
