WATERFORD — Dave Gargaro hasn’t raced regularly at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl in more than a year.
The two-time X-car champion, however, hasn’t forgotten the fast way around the track.
Gargaro took the lead from T.J. Racicot on lap No. 18 and still had enough voltage left to survive a two-lap, green-white-checker showdown with Racicot and Eddie Loomis. He held on for a win in the 35-lap X-Car Extra Distance Showdown Wednesday as part of the Speedbowl’s Wild & Wacky presentation. (more…)

WATERFORD — Chris Strickland of Uncasville comes to the New London-Waterford Speedbowl every Wednesday looking for action and improvement, not sympathy.
Some would think the second year X-Car driver would be at a disadvantage — he lost his right hand in 2006 while serving in the Army in Iraq. (more…)

It took James only 13 laps to go from fifth to first as he dominated the Blast Off, grabbing a first-place purse in excess of $4,000.
Peter Bennett, meanwhile, grabbed the biggest Legends win of his career as he collected a win in the Summer Showdown. The win was worth $2,020. Bennett finished second on the track, but was awarded the victory when Alex McCollum was disqualified after post-race inspection.
Other winners included Steven Chapman of Ellington in the SK Lite Modifieds in his first-ever race, Charles Canfield in the Mini Stocks, point leader Shawn Gaedeke in the Sportsman feature and Todd Taylor in the Speedbowl Truck feature.
