WATERFORD — An ambitious 2019 schedule that begins May 11-12 and includes 22 Saturday night events and 14 Wednesday night events has been announced by New London-Waterford Speedbowl General Manager Mike Serluca.
“We have worked hard to give the fans an exciting schedule that offers something different every week,” Serluca said. “Our weekly divisions remain the backbone of the Speedbowl. Throw in some great special events and some spectacular touring series and the Speedbowl will definitely be the place to be for great entertainment every Wednesday and Saturday. WATERFORD — The off-season promises to be a busy time at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. That’s because there are two major events taking place on the Speedbowl calendar — the 5th annual Racers 4 Racers Holiday Toy Drive, scheduled for Dec. 4 at Langley’s Restaurant in Waterford at 6:30 p.m. and the annual Speedbowl Awards Banquet, set for Feb. 9 at the Mystic Marriott.
The toy drive has become a Speedbowl tradition. Last year more than 200 toys were donated by Speedbowl drivers, crew members, officials and fans to Kinship 4 Kids, an organization that helps out foster children.

WATERFORD — SK Modified driver Kyle James was responsible for the best move of finale weekend — a whirlwind charge coming out of turn 4 to blur past Tim Jordan at the finish line.
It was in a qualifying race, however, and not in the 80-lap feature. The heat race win, however, gave him enough points to lock up the 2018 SK Modified championship Sunday during The finale weekend at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. (more…)

Christian returns to Speedbowl to grab Granite State win
WATERFORD — It wasn’t the first time Ray Christian III had won at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. This one, however, might have been the sweetest.
Christian passed Ben Rowe with 20-laps remaining to win his first ever Granite State Pro Stock Series race here Saturday. The fact that Christian won the race at his hometown track made the victory even more significant. Christian came into Saturday’s race with 13 Speedbowl wins — nine in the Mini Stocks and four in the Late Models. (more…)

Anderson goes from pageant stage to Speedbowl; making debut in SK Lites
WATERFORD — Samantha Anderson of Wolcott has traded in her crown for a racing helmet.
The 2016 Miss Connecticut Outstanding Teen has a passion for motor sports. She competed in the Street Stock division at Stafford Motor Speedway this past season and finished 15th in the point standings, despite missing five races. She racked up six Top 10s and captured a pair of heat race wins.
This weekend, however, she is about to take the biggest step in her brief racing career, Anderson, 19, will be making her debut in an SK Lite Modified, owned by Ken Barry at this weekend’s finale at the Speedbowl. . It is a car that Andrew Molleur has driven to a win in the Bubby Brouwer Memorial at the Speedbowl on Sept. 8, plus four wins at Stafford.
