Monster Trucks ready to rock the ‘Bowl

WATERFORD — Mike Vaters Sr., a 37-year veteran of Monster Truck activity, said he’s looking forward to Sunday’s visit to the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

“We are going to rock the house,” he said.

The two Monster Trucks that will be in attendance, Higher Education and Overkill Evolution, probably will be rocking more than just the house — expect the ground also to start shaking. (more…)

WATERFORD — Super X-Car driver Aaron Plemons pulled off his first New London-Waterford Speedbowl victory the hard way — with point-leader Dave Yardley breathing down his firesuit. Plemons, however, didn’t succumb to the pressure. He held off Yardley over the final five laps to grab a dramatic win the 25-lap Super X-car feature. WATERFORD — Dennis Pantani has two career Legends wins at New London-Waterford Speedbowl, but he says the latest victory he captured Wednesday stands out.
“It was sweet because we had to pass some cars to do it,” said Pantani who dropped as far back as sixth place before he made his charge to the front. “When I won seven years ago, I was in fifth place, and then the four cars in front of me wrecked and I moved up to first. It was a win by circumstance. The win I got Wednesday night I really had to earn. This was a different caliber of winning.” (more…)

Racicot goes from wreck to checkers

WATERFORD — T.J. Racicot and his team depend on hard work, not bells and whistles.
“We’ve had our share of ups and downs this season,” the X-Car driver from Quaker Hill said. “We just try to do the best we can. We keep on digging.”

That philosophy turned to gold on Aug. 1 when he grabbed his first careers win at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl just one week after he wiped out the front end of his car in a multi-car accident.

Monahan’s late decision pays off in Outlaw Street Stock

WATERFORD — The last thing the management of the New London Waterford Speedbowl wanted was a race-free weekend.
So when Saturday’s scheduled nine-division race program was sabotaged by inclement weather, the management quickly shifted gears and started making arrangements for a rare Sunday race program. The drivers were on board, resulting in an exciting nine-feature program that featured many breath-taking moments. (more…)

Monahan returning to Modified competition

WATERFORD — James “Diego” Monahan is getting ready to move from the sidelines and back into an SK Modified.
Monahan says that he’ll be driving the back-up car for Andrew Molleur in Saturday’s twin 40-lap SK Modified features at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. It will be Monahan’s first Speedbowl appearance at the season.
