Bear Ridge Speedway “there’s no place like home”

Bear Ridge Speedway is gearing up for their 51st year of consecutive racing. The Ridge continues to be the best source of great inexpensive high-quality entertainment for families. What makes the entertainment? Some of the best drivers in New England, fierce competition, and the return of drivers who know “there’s no place like home”

The DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds will see some returning faces in 2018 who have raced the Ridge. We understand that sometimes family commitments need to take precedence, and some drivers want to try their luck at the tracks on the other side of the mountain. We are always proud to watch them as they spread their wings, and at the end of the day, it is good to know when they can and are ready they will come home. Tim Tucker driver of the 91 hails from northern VT and will be returning to full time competition in 2018, will he be setting his sites on a top five points standing finish, or even a championship? Kevin Chaffee local hot shoe driving the 73 having raced the King of Dirt Series last season, will be returning to the Ridge to try to earn his first coveted track championship in the Mods. With some stiff competition this feat will not be easy for any of the drivers and is sure to offer some edge of your seat entertainment for the fans.

Jesse Durkee is crowned champ in the Weglarz Property Service Four Cylinders
Bear Ridge Speedway’s 19th event of 50th season of racing.

The Interstate Battery of Newmont & JTB Towing and Recovery sponsored 99 Rock Championship night for the CA Miller Late Models and the Weglarz Property Service Four Cylinders with double points on the line had fans on the edge of their seats as the points battle heighten to a fevered pitch.

It was a pair of tens in victory lane in the DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds, one claiming his second win of the night and one doing what he had to do to claim his first championship at the Ridge. With double points on the line, the racing was aggressive as everyone fought for that extra point. Surviving an early caution, driving away with no damage Derek Graham worked his way from the back to the front and with only a lap to go claimed the 3rd place victory lane spot, and the 2017 championship. While Graham was working his way to the front Ryan Christian starting from what he likes to call his sweet spot, about a third of the way thru the field, quickly worked his way to the front to take the lead and hold on to claim the win. Joining the pair of tens was the 73 of Kevin Chaffee with his best finish in 2017. Wayne Stearns the one who succumbed to Graham on the last lap crossed the line in fourth with Robert Tucker crossing in fifth.
