Barre, VT – The Community Bank N.A. 150 on Sunday, April 29 at 1:00pm will kick off the 59th season of racing at Barre’s Thunder Road. While the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models headline the card, the track’s famed Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers are certain to shine as well. One of the largest Opening Day fields in years is anticipated for Thunder Road’s longest-running racing class.

Barre, VT – Thunder Road is getting set to open its 59th season of racing on Sunday, April 29 with the Community Bank N.A. 150 for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT). The 20th edition of the event has teams and fans buzzing as they prepare for another year atop Quarry Hill.
Racers from all across the Northeastern U.S. and Quebec are expected for the event that has served as the traditional season opener since 1999. With the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, Allen Lumber Stocks, and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also on the card, a huge field of race cars is anticipated.

A-Verdi Returns for KOD Race to Open Devil’s Bowl “358” Modified Series
King of Dirt Racing Series shows to count toward mini-series track championship
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – The ground-pounding Small Block “358” Modifieds are coming back to Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The Vermont facility returns to full-time dirt track stock car racing on a lightning-fast half-mile surface in 2018, and the new era of racing includes a four-event mini-series championship for the famed 358 Modifieds.
Two of the four race dates will be co-sanctioned by the King of Dirt Racing Series (KOD), while the other two dates will be independently run by Devil’s Bowl Speedway management. (more…)

Barre, VT – Harold “Hard Luck” Hanaford, one of the early stars of Thunder Road and a legend of New England auto racing, passed away on Saturday, March 17 after a lengthy illness. Hanaford was 89 years old.
The Plymouth, NH native remains best known as the inaugural winner of the Vermont Milk Bowl in 1962. He added a second Milk Bowl championship in 1964 behind the wheel of his famous purple #30 Ford flathead coupe. It was the same year that he captured the first of back-to-back “King of the Road” titles.

“Professor” Branham Files First Entry for Devil’s Bowl Speedway Vermont 200
Given is first Super Stock driver to enter
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – One of the most highly anticipated stock car events in the Northeast is already building its driver roster, as entry forms are already flying in for September’s historic “Vermont 200 Weekend” at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Longtime competitor Bucko “The Professor” Branham has earned the distinction as the first driver to file an official entry for the event.
The Plattsburgh, N.Y., native will drive his familiar No. 20 AHI Imaging/Bud Light-sponsored Bicknell car in the Sportsman Modified division, as he attempts to qualify for the 30-car, 200-lap, $10,000-to-win main event. Branham owns four track championships at Airborne Park Speedway in his hometown, but he has also tasted success at Devil’s Bowl with wins on the former asphalt track in 2014 and 2015. He returned to dirt racing for the first time in over 25 years last summer and won a Sportsman feature at Airborne.

Over $54,000 Posted for Devil’s Bowl Speedway Vermont 200 Weekend

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – The biggest dirt track stock car event in Devil’s Bowl Speedway history is taking shape, and the total weekend payout is setting records across the Northeast. The “Vermont 200 Weekend” event on September 15-16 will offer in excess of $54,000 in total prize money, with more than $37,000 posted for the first-of-its-kind, 200-lap Sportsman Modified race.
The Vermont 200 is the longest, richest race ever created for Sportsman Modifieds, as the open-wheel, center-seat, Chevrolet “602 crate” engine cars will run for an all-time record $10,000 winner’s share. Big money extends though the field, as the runner-up earns $3,000, fifth place is worth $1,000, 10th place takes $500, and 30th place grabs $300. In addition, a whopping $10,300 will be available in lap leader bonus money.
