Record making stunts, rain, wild rides and plenty of racing was afforded the fans on the VP Fuels-Hoosier Tire East night of racing.

The Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds hit the track knowing it would be fast. Josh Sunn coming back from his wild ride in the USAC DMA Midgets in 2016 brought his Corsi Property Maintenance machine from the back to the front to take the lead and sale on for an emotional win for all. Ryan Christian worked him hard but was unable to make the move for first settling for the runner up position. Joining the two in victory lane was Robert Tucker. Derek Graham and Matt Lashua completed the top five.

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Chris Bergeron has been considering retirement from stock car racing, but he may want to reconsider. The veteran racer from Claremont, N.H., scored his third consecutive NASCAR Whelen All-American Series victory at The Asphalt Track at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Friend Construction Night on Saturday, July 22. Corliss Nabs Second Win of Season on FairPoint Night

Barre, Vt. – Hometown driver Jason Corliss captured his second Thunder Road Late Model win of the season on Thursday, July 20, taking the lead just past the halfway point and holding on for the win on FairPoint Communications Night.

 

Corliss threaded his way through the field from his 11th starting position before a lap-27 caution brought him alongside polesitter Boomer Morris. After grabbing the lead on the restart, Corliss outgunned point leader Bobby Therrien in the closing circuits for his sixth career win.

Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road enters the heart of its midsummer schedule this Thursday, July 20 with FairPoint Communications Night. As the season nears its halfway point, many teams will be jockeying for championship position in what is shaping up to be an action-packed evening of racing.

 

Round two of the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers will highlight the full card of racing. The extended distance feature will award both Triple Crown and Thunder Road weekly points, putting a premium on a good performance for all contenders.

It can be hard to tell if it is double points or full moon sometimes as drivers seem to forget at the end of the day it is still just a night of racing. Mid-Season Championships means Double Points for everyone, and plenty of hot racing excitement for the fans as everyone wants to get those extra coveted points.

Thunder Road to Host Amanda Pelkey Night This Thursday

Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road officials have announced that the track will host Amanda Pelkey Night this Thursday, July 20 as part of FairPoint Communications Night. The Montpelier native will be honored with a send-off ceremony as she prepares to begin training for the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea with the United States Women’s National Ice Hockey team.

 

Pelkey began her hockey career with the Barre Youth Sports Association and was a member of the Junior Women’s Hockey League throughout her high school years, first with the Boston Shamrocks of Massachusetts and later with the North American Hockey Academy of Stowe, Vt. She attended the University of Vermont (UVM) from 2011 to 2015 and holds all of the school’s women’s ice hockey scoring records.
