Riverhead Raceway is gearing up for a major celebration on Friday, July 3rd, as the historic track hosts its 76th Year Celebration. The event kicks off with a spectacular fireworks display commemorating the 250th birthday of the United States. This special occasion also features the annual Flying Dutchman Tribute 76, putting the Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds front and center for an exciting display.
The tribute honors the racing career of Fred Harbach, and the action on track is stacked with talent. Chase Grennan of Glen Cove recently secured a victory in the tribute, which contributed to his pursuit of the 2025 Crown Jewel Series championship. Entering the event, Owen Grennan sits atop the 2026 Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified championship ranking, with several other drivers closely following in the standings.
Beyond the Modified action, the day features other major events for fans. The schedule also includes Super Pro Trucks competing in a main event, an Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars feature, and a Truck Enduro. Kids will enjoy the popular Big Wheel Race right after the opening ceremonies, adding variety to the full race day itinerary.
For added nostalgia, Alex "AJ Kitz" Kitzen and his wife Joanne Harbach-Kitzen are bringing a replica of the 1937 X-89 Ford Coupe, which Fred Harbach famously raced. Fans are encouraged to visit their trailer after the races to hear stories from the legend. Pit windows open at 5:00 PM Friday, with general admission gates opening at 6:30 PM.
