After a challenging start to the 2026 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, Matt Hirschman found a significant morale boost by securing a victory at the Firecracker 150 held at Seekonk Speedway on Wednesday night.

Driving the No. 60 PeeDee Motorsports Modified, Hirschman managed to flip the script in the opening round of the three-race Whelen Midsummer Championship miniseries. He noted that this win provided exactly the positive momentum he needed as the season progressed.

The race itself saw Hirschman execute a masterful drive. Starting eighth on the grid, he patiently worked his way through the field and seized control when the caution flag flew with fewer than 50 laps remaining. He immediately moved to the outside of leader Stephen Kopcik, rocketed into Turn 1, and took the lead, holding the top spot for the remainder of the event.

This victory marked Hirschman's fourth Modified Tour win at Seekonk and his 11th overall tour victory. Meanwhile, Chase Dowling finished second, and Patrick Emerling placed third, while Austin Beers came in fifth. The Modified Tour season continues next week with Round 2 at Claremont Motorsports Park.
