Nate Wenzel and Andrew Brousseau split a Modified twinbill Saturday on the high banks of Monadnock Speedway. For each, it was win number two of the 2026 season.
With perfect 80 degree weather, two Modified 35-lappers atop a six-division card of high speed action. Limited Late Model ace JD Stockwell was ready to put on a show. Holding off Chris Lindquist, the youthful Bernardston, MA hot shoe stormed to his fifth consecutive victory Saturday, staying comfortably atop his division with his seventh checkered flag lap of the summer.
Rookie Pure Stock phenom Josh Brigham won for the second time this season, and Aaron Thompson dominated the Pro V8 Sportsman main event on the fast quarter-mile. In the Young Gun 15-lapper, Dylan Stati romped to his track-high ninth victory.
In the visiting New England Dwarf Car main event, veteran strongman Tom Harwood won a thriller, taking the checkers just six inches ahead of Andrew Harmon.
Nate Wenzel and Colton Martin set up front as the first Allstates Materials Group 604 Modified 35-lapper went green. Wenzel blasted to the lap one lead and never looked back. Top points man Tyler Leary rode in his shadow most of the way to claim the runner-up finish.
Colton Martin, who had scored his first Monadnock Modified win in the first leg of a similar twinbill a month ago, rocketed to third in the caution-free event, with Ty Leclerc strong in fourth, and Firecracker 100 winner Kimmy Rivet fifth. In the Modified nightcap, Andrew Brousseau and Ben Byrne shared row one. Brousseau, who’d earlier set fast time with a lap of 12.166 seconds, exploded to the lap-one lead, bringing Rivet - from row two - with him. They would hold those spots until the checkers waved, but the action in this one was fast and furious. While Brousseau was never tested en route to victory in the second go-round, battles were waged behind him just inches apart. Rivet and Martin raced under a blanket for the deuce position, with Martin finishing in her shadow for his second third-place performance of the night. Behind them, Eddie Gomarlo and Ty Leclerc raced hooked together, with Gomarlo prevailing for fourth. Tyler Leary, second and sixth on the night, went home still comfortably atop the mid-season points parade.
JD Stockwell, charging from row four, took the lead from Erik Smith on lap eight of the Twin State Truck Services Limited Late Model feature and with it, the safest seat in the house, Chris Lindquist, in only his second outing of the season,was strong at number two but never had quite enough to wrest the top spot from Stockwell.Number two points man Robert Hagar survived two drubbings and a trip pitside to come back for third, while others weren’t that lucky,’ Wesley Stedt got turned sideways exiting turn two on lap 12, collecting the David Boisvert ride in a violent backstretch crash. Both walked away from their wrecked cars unharmed. Hillary Renaud, tossed around all night, was credited with sixth, just behind Smith and Michael Lashua. Blasting off from eleventh on the starting grid, super rookie Josh Brigham took the lead from Jimmy Zellman on lap 13 in the Brattleboro Towing and Recovery Pure Stocks and then held off the all-out charge of four-time winner Michael Yeaton to score his second win of the summer. Kyle Begos, victorious a week earlier, was strong in third on this Saturday, with Dylan Zullo and Markus O’Neil close behind. Zellman took a hit in the championship points chase, finishing ninth after pitting for repairs.
Aaron Thompson had a romp in the park night in the Beck’s Automotive Pro V8 Sportsman feature. Rocketing low into turn two to make it three-wide on the opening lap, he sailed off into the sunset to top the 25-lapper with ease. Matt Robinson got up for second on lap 14, with Chris Kingsley soon behind him in third but they were no match for Thompson on this Saturday night. Stephen Dubois picked Ron Burgess Jr,’s pocket for fourth on the last lap. Tom Harwood led only one lap in the New England Dwarf Cars feature, but it was the one that counted the most. Two late cautions set up a mad dash to the finish line in this one, with Harwood cashing in from the top groove to nip Andrew Harmon by inches in a thriller. Zig Geno, who led the first 21 laps, was close behind in third, followed by Ronnie and Ryan Carman. Cody Hodgdon saw a top three finish fall by the wayside when he hurtled off the top of turn three on lap 24 to finish ninth. And in the Doug’s Auto Body Young Guns, Dylan Stati continued his ownership of the youth division, romping to his ninth win of the season. Maeve Barry, faster every week, was second, and Mason Bezio trophied in third.
Monadnock Speedway returns to action next Saturday, July 18, with round two of its 2026 Triple Crown Series events on tap in a full card of NASCAR Local Racing Series action. Post time is 6 p.m. each Saturday at New England’s fastest quarter-mile.
