The annual School Bus Demolition Derby contests are a staple of family entertainment at Riverhead Raceway, and this year promises motorized mayhem as the first event of the 2026 season is set to take place. These high-energy events showcase the spectacle of 13-ton school buses engaging in no-holds-barred competition.
For Saturday, the action will feature an all-star roster of drivers vying for victory. Participants include Frank "The Tank" Dumicich Jr., "The Z-Man" Ryan Zukowski, "Babylon Brawler" Sean Fitzpatrick, "Kannonball" Rob Kettenbell, "Blazin Bee" Jimmy White Jr., "Short Round" Chris Lescenski, Joey "Bam Bam" Warren Jr., and "Dirty" Mike.
Beyond the demolition derby, the day is packed with other racing action. The event also features the 4th annual Two for TK Twin 9 Figure Eight races honoring the late "TK" Tom Kraft. Additionally, the Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds will return for a 50-lap feature event before heading to the Oval Speed Bubba 150 on July 25th.
Complementing these main attractions are various other contests, including Late Models, INEX Bandoleros, Truck Enduro, and JuiceBox Racers. General admission gates open at 5:00 PM for the festivities, with opening ceremonies scheduled for 6:15 PM.
