The historic Riverhead Raceway is set to host a busy weekend of NASCAR Local Racing Series action on Friday, July 24th, and Saturday, July 25th. The schedule features high-octane competition across multiple classes, headlined by the Crate Modifieds competing in the Eagle Chevrolet 50 event on Friday night.
Friday’s main attraction involves the Crate Modifieds, who will double their feature distance for the Eagle Chevrolet 50. Michael Berner of Patchogue has secured two previous wins in this class, and he enters the race tied atop the point standings with AJ DeSantis of Yaphank. Other drivers like Richie Davidowitz and Thomas Grattan are also vying for a season-opening victory.
Saturday brings another major event: the 7th annual Oval Speed Bubba 150 NASCAR Modified race. This special event is highly lucrative, offering over $14,000 in special award and lap money. Chase Grennan of Glen Cove is defending the title, while his brother Owen Grennan chases the championship lead. The field includes several contenders aiming for success in this premier modified event.
Beyond the Modifieds, the weekend also features other classes including Blunderbusts, INEX Legend Race Cars, Street Stocks, and an 8-Cylinder Enduro. Saturday will conclude with a second 4/6-Cylinder Demolition Derby, where the new payoff formula offers significant prize money for the winners.
