The highly anticipated Georgia Summer Nationals, which features a race at Cordele Motor Speedway and is co-promoted by the Southern Super Series, has been postponed. This decision was made following an unfavorable weather forecast for the region this weekend.
The primary reason for the postponement is the severe chance of rain, with forecasts predicting an 80 percent likelihood of precipitation on both Saturday and Sunday. This made holding the event untenable for track owners and sanctioning bodies, especially considering the cost implications associated with running the race.
While the main event is off, there is still activity planned for the undercard, which included the Modifieds of Mayhem. Organizers are currently exploring options to reschedule the event, with discussions focusing on an August 22 make-up day, pending viability checks with the broader racing industry.
Despite the postponement, the event was noted for its strong field, featuring an impressive entry list of 24 cars. This large field is attributed to track owner Greg Noland’s Super Fest and World Crown 300 bonus program, which brought a significant number of competitors to the track.
