J.D. Stockwell Wins Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro Gold

Cale King·

Barre, VT – The weather man may have tried to convince Vermonters to stay in doors on Sunday but the Thunder Road faithful came out in droves for the Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200. Thirty-three rk Miles Street Stocks prepared for the annual 50-lap showdown on Enduro Sunday while 100 homemade clunkers packed the pit area for a chance at $3,000 and the biggest bragging rights in the Green Mountain State!

Veteran Jen Getty and rookie Derrick Mann brought the rk Miles Street Stock field to green for the Bolduc Metal Recycling Street Stock Special. An early tangle between the two front-row starters resulted in Getty’s spin and Mann’s placement to the rear leaving the young-guns to take over the chase. Hayden Morris and Hayden Bushey worked their way through the pack in the long green-flag run that made up the final half of the extra-distance event. Morris would motor into the lead while Bushey kept him honest out front, crossing the line one-two with Paul Rocheleau coming home third to complete a Ford Mustang top three!

The 100 wacky racers were next to enter the arena, three abreast around the Nation’s Site of Excitement with Flying Tiger regular Brodie Frazier bringing out the first red flag within the first two minutes! Frazier’s Toyota rolled on the frontstretch to bring the excitement up to an eleven early but ended his hopeful run for the Bolduc crown.

Back under green it was calamity galore around the highbanks with Thunder Road veterans and first-timers alike experienced the rolling ridiculousness lap after lap. By the halfway point, official scorers had their eyes on Massachusetts invader J.D. Stockwell as the apparent leader ahead of longtime challengers Adam Gray and Chris LaForest. LaForest’s hope for a strong top-ten, or more, came to a slamming end entering turn one with bad timing shortening the nose of his Buick Century by a good 18 inches.

By lap 180 it was all J.D. Stockwell out front as he motored around the chicanes of fallen comrades and entered his name in the record books as a Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200 champion by three laps over Alburgh’s Caleb Bedard and four laps over Adam Gray.

Thunder Road is right back in action this Thursday, August 6 with the NBT Bank Road Warrior Challenge! The 50-lap showdown for the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors headlines Thursday’s action alongside Round #2 in the Alera Group Triple Crown for the rk Miles Street Stocks. The Maplefields/Irving Late Models and Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers complete the show with a 7:00pm Post Time.
