One of Atlantic Canada's biggest short track races returns to Scotia Speedworld this Saturday as the FGI Pro Stock Tour competes in the Summer Clash 250 presented by Superior Foundations and Atlantic Tiltload. With more than $100,000 in purse and contingency awards on the line, a star-studded field of 23 teams has already entered, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Cole Butcher is returning home to compete, promising 250 laps of edge-of-your-seat action.
The Summer Clash 250 winner will collect at least $15,000 and earn a place in Tour history with their name engraved on the prestigious Scott Fraser Memorial Cup. Grandstands open at 1:00pm on Saturday, with racing getting underway at 4:00pm.
The road to victory begins Friday night with Top Construction Time Trials, where every fraction of a second counts. The fastest qualifier will earn $1,000, secure the coveted pole position for Saturday's Summer Clash 250, and set the stage for one of the biggest races of the year. The outside front-row starting position will also be determined during Friday's qualifying session.
Friday's program continues with the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series, highlighted by the Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman in the Superior Foundations 100. Grandstands open at 5:00pm, with racing beginning at 7:00pm, making Friday night the perfect kickoff to an unforgettable Summer Clash.
The Fort Garry Industries Pro Stock Tour championship fight is shaping up to be one of the closest in recent memory. Reigning Series champion Ashton Tucker (Miramichi, NB) leads the standings with 1,212 points, but the biggest story may be rookie Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS), who has surged into a tie for second alongside veteran Jordan Veinotte (Porter's Lake, NS) at 1,169 points. Austin MacDonald (Pictou, NS) sits just nine points back in fourth with 1,160, while former Tour champion Jarrett Butcher (Porter's Lake, NS) rounds out the top five as we enter the Summer Clash 250.
