Over fifty competitors took to the track for practice sessions on Friday as teams prepared for the CARS Tour Spears Throwback Classic at Hickory Motor Speedway. The atmosphere was electric as drivers worked to hone their skills under the hot sun, setting the stage for the weekend's main event.
Corey Heim emerged as the standout performer during the practice day, securing the fastest time in the Late Model Stock Car category with a blistering 14.824 seconds in the final round. Heim is returning to Hickory after a break, feeling steady progress across the rounds of practice.
Mason Walters also made significant strides, leading the Pro Late Model standings during the session. Walters clocked a fast time of 14.694 seconds in the final round, demonstrating strong pace as he battled for the lead in the Pro Late Model standings.
The Throwback Classic itself promises a nostalgic display, with many teams sporting classic paint schemes honoring racing legends from history. This year’s field features tributes ranging from family legacies to iconic NASCAR figures, adding another layer of excitement to the event at Hickory.
