WINCHESTER, NH - Linsey Wenzel had a big night Saturday at Monadnock Speedway. Her big brother Nate, not so much.
The Pure Stock rookie wired the night’s 25-lap feature to score her first career win on the high banks. Nate, a former speedway, state, and national champion, was later dragged into a grinding crash against the turn-four wall, walking away unharmed while his ride left the track atop a flatbed, credited with tenth in the Modified main event.
Rusty Poland was victorious in the visiting SMAC 350 Super Modified 50-lapper, while second-generation star Andrew Brousseau had his way all night in the Modifieds.
Brousseau was fastest in practice, then again in time trials at 12.337 seconds - and then led the last 30 laps of the Modified feature to score his third win of the summer in a run-away.
Robert Hagar won his second Limited Late Model feature of the season, his Saturday night victory scored on the heels of a Friday romp at Claremont. Rob Richardi Jr. aced the Pro 4 Modified feature on Back To School Night at the fast Route 10 quarter-mile, while Matt Robinson made it two on the summer in the Pro V8 Sportsmen, and Young Guns master blaster Dylan Stati made it a dozen with his Saturday win.
With early evening rain delaying Saturday’s starting time by an hour and 45 minutes, nobody was more ready to cash in than Linsey Wenzel.
Starting up front in the show-opening Brattleboro Towing and Recovery Pure Stock feature, she took charge on lap one and never looked back en route to her first career victory. Dylan Zullo rode at her bumper the first 14 laps, with Kyle Begos - blazing from his seventh starting spot - then soaring into second. Nobody, on this night, would keep Wenzel from the winner’s circle.
With Begos finishing at her bumper in second, and Zullo third, four-time winner Micheal Yeaton raced home fourth, and Jimmy Zellman, victorious a week ago, was fifth.Top points man rookie Josh Brigham finished fourth, to maintain a slim lead over Zellman in the championship chase.
Rookie Kyle Kenny led the first ten laps of the Allstates Materials Group 604 Modified main event. But nobody, on this night, would keep Andrew Brousseau from winning for the third time this summer.
With Brousseau patrolling the high banks like a heat-seeking missile, top points man Tyler Leary was second on the night and Kenny, in his rookie campaign in the Modifieds after winning the 2025 Pure Stock crown, held strong to score his first career open-wheeler podium finish. Ty LeClerc, second early, finished fourth, and Kimmy Rivet raced home fifth.
Rusty Poland led early and often to top the SMAC Super Modified 50-lap main event. In a close one, Bobby Timmons edged Haydon Grenier for second. Justin Harris, the winner here back on May 16, was fourth on the night Saturday, and top SMAC points man Brad Babb was fifth.
In SMAC qualifying Saturday, former many-time Monadnock Modified king Brian Robie set fast time with a speedy trip around the high banks in only 11.363 seconds. He was one of 11 SMAC hot shoes turning sub-12-second laps Saturday.
Wesley Stedt led the first nine go-rounds of the Twin State Truck Services Limited Late Model feature, then giving way to Zach Zilinski. Robert Hagar, though, was on fire.
Low-lining to the front on lap 23, the Windsor, VT veteran soared off into the night for his second win of the weekend. JD Stockwell stayed well atop the points parade, finishing at Hagar’s bumper in second, with Zilinski close behind in third. Fourth and fifth went to Hillary Renaud and Stedt.
Rocketing from fourth to first in the blink of an eye, Rob RIchardi Jr. made easy work of winning his third of the year in the LaValley Building Supply Pro 4 Modifieds Saturday, The Taunton, MA ace was untouchable.
Josh Badach kissed the backstretch wall while second on lap four, with Fast Eddie then taking the deuce spot to join Richardi in victory lane, Rookie Sydney Cook nipped Sophia Ashford to earn her first career podium finish.
Blasting off from row three, Matt Robinson took the lead early from points leader Chris Kingsley in the Beck’s Automotive Pro V8 Sportsmen and sailed off to win his second feature event of the summer.
Aaron Thompson’s strong second-place performance was good enough to move him past Kingsley for the top spot in the points parade. Stephen Dubois was third on the night, with Kingsley struggling to sixth.
In the Doug’s Auto Body Young Guns, Bay State youngster Dylan Stati continued his total dominance of the youth division, winning by a large margin again Saturday for his track-high 12th victory lap of the season.
Ultra Rookie Tyler LeBlanc, in his first race ever on the high banks, was an impressive second in the Young Guns. With the Cornish, NH 14-year-old earning the silver medal hardware, Mauve Barry finished third and Mason Bezio raced home fourth.
Monadnock Speedway returns to action next Saturday, August 15, when the great race place will host round two of its 2026 Triple Crown Series events, including a special 50-lap feature for the deep and exciting Pure Stock division. Post time at New England’s fastest quarter-mile is 6 p.m. every Saturday.
