Glen Reen, who had won the pole position for the event, experienced a major incident early in the race at Stafford Motor Speedway.
During the first lap, Reen made contact with the wall after throwing the block and over-correcting, resulting in a significant crash.
The damage sustained by the vehicle was severe, with reports suggesting the damage might be terminal as the incident occurred before the driver reached turn number three.
