Late Model Stocks returned to the Florence Motor Speedway this past Saturday night for the Sun Fun 101 on Summer Sizzler night. This event served as round five of the 2026 I-95 Showdown competition between Florence and Southern National Motorsports Park, following Southern National's cancellation which adjusted the schedule.
The race featured a strong showing from the Florence heavyweights, with the twin brothers Casey and Cody Kelley finishing at the front in the closing laps. AK Performance and Casey Kelley ultimately secured the victory, marking his first Late Model Stock win of the season. Cody Kelley and Keelan Harvick also claimed the I-95 Showdown titles at Florence this season, while Cody Kelley and defending champion Matt Cox finished on the podium.
The battle for position was tight throughout the event. Casey Kelley noted that securing the lead required careful tire management and speed, emphasizing that clean air is crucial for passing. Cody Kelley reflected on the race, noting that while they were closely matched at the end, the car positioning and track conditions played a role in the outcome.
With the CARS Tour race approaching in a few weeks, the Kelley brothers are focused on gathering data to contend against the Tour regulars. Both drivers aim to improve their performance in upcoming events, hoping to make a significant impact in the near future.
