The annual North-South Shootout is set to relocate for 2026, moving from Caraway Speedway to Southern National Motorsports Park. This move marks an exciting step in the event's history, as Southern National becomes the fourth venue in the series. This transition represents a significant opportunity for the event to expand its footprint and continue growing its tradition.
The two-day event is scheduled for November 6th and 7th, 2026. Practice sessions for both the 602 and Tour-Type Modified classes will take place on Friday before the main racing action kicks off on Saturday. The event will also feature Southern National’s ‘Road to the Classic’ program for local divisions.
This agreement between North-South Shootout owner Chad Kepley and Southern National track owner Michael Diaz is focused on immediate growth while exploring future collaborations. Kepley expressed enthusiasm for the change, believing the high banks at Southern National will provide an excellent setting for Modified racing and continue the event's legacy.
The Shootout has previously been held at Caraway, Concord Speedway, and Hickory Motor Speedway. Matt Hirschman has been a dominant force in the series, securing five wins in the past five events, bringing his total to 11 victories across 22 starts. Max McLaughlin was the last driver to win the event outside of Hirschman in 2020.
