Placey Wins at Bear Ridge; Piastka Gets First Win

Bear Ridge Speedway·

The feature winners of the 59th consecutive season week thirteen sponsored by Murray’s Market Nursery, and Landscape Design were Thomas Placey in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; Cooper Hodge in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, Bryan King in the Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Sportsman Modifieds Limiteds; Brandon Piastka in the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets, Ryan Christian in the High Country Dispensary Late Models; John Fields in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks; Riley Chaffee (feature one) Doug Boucher (feature two-makeup race)in the Woodsville Power Equipment Bobcat Ridge Runners and Cody Hodge in the High Country Dispensaries 4/6 Cylinder Enduro.

Thomas Placey has had a roller coaster year in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds. After destroying his car on madness night, the beginning of July he finally came back the beginning of August only to score a “did not start”. Finally, the stars would align, and this would be his week to punch his ticket into the end of the season Growler event as he beat out Rookie Jason Horiak for the win in the second week in a row green to checkers event. Richie Simmons joined the pair in victory lane, finishing third. Owen Brown came back from a bad finish last week to capture fourth with Robert tucker rounding out the top five.

Cooper Hodge would be your second first time winner of the season as he was able to hold off the hard fought challenges from Michael Danforth Jr late in the race for the win in Wells River Chevrolet-part of the Auto Saver Group DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes. Danforth was the class of the show coming from deep in the pack and seems unstoppable from winning his third championship in a row for grandfather Gene Pierson. Alexis Pushee finishes in third her best finish since a year ago this month when she scored a win. Jason Gray and rookie Chris Roberts completed the top five.

The fairytale journey continues for Jordan Robinson® in the Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Sportsman Modified Limiteds as she breaks her way into victory lane with a third place finish. Keegan Tabor® beat her out at the line awhile dogging the veteran leader Bryan King. Lucas Balch® and Michael Kinne® rounded out the top five.

In the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets Brandon Piastka, the only driver in the top five to have not scored a win gets it done for car owner Ray Miller. Piastka beat out Will Hull driving for Skip Matczak with Chris Murray taking home the final victory lane spot. Nick Fretto and John Forlano completed the top five.

Ryan Christian scores win six in the High-Country Dispensaries Late Models. After getting by Kelly Miller Sr, he would cruise on for the win with Tim Higgins joining the pair in victory lane. Cameron Grant and Kevin Smith® finished out the field.

It appears that it may be down to just two for the championship quest with John Fields beating out Tyler Fellows for the win. The two are now separated by two points with fields back on top. Keith Mansur finishes in third and is now sixteen points out of second not unsurmountable but with only a handful of races left for 2026 it is beginning to become a more difficult challenge. Mike Mann and Luke Peter rounded out the top five for the night.

The Woodsville Power Equipment-Bobcat Ridge Runners ran two features for the evening, making up an event lost earlier in the season to rain. The first feature was determined by fast time with Riley Chaffee winning the honors and going on to win the event. The regular suspects would be tight behind him, as Zach Audet crossed the line in second and Ryan Sayers in third. Kevin LaForest and Doug Boucher completed the top five. The second feature line up was an invert from the first finish. Once again, the cream of the crop would rise to the top with Doug Boucher scoring the win this time. Ryan Sayers and Zach Audet would swap positions from the first event finishing second and third respectfully. Kevin LaForest and Jacob hall-Larson rounded out the top five.

It is all about endurance and being there at the end in the High Country Dispensaries 4/6 Cylinder Enduro series. Thirty nine cars registered to take the green with thirty eight making the call. Cody Hodge coming from deep in the three wide starting grid would waste no time getting to the front and methodically lap all but the second place car as he went on to score his second win of the season. James Daley finished a distant second with Travis King taking home third one lap down. Jason Porter and Ryan sayers finished out the top five, both one lap down. The battle for the crown is looking to be based solely on consistency as Jason Porter sits on top by twenty eight points having finished second third and fourth respectfully in the past three events. The High Country Dispensaries 4/6 Cylinder Enduro series will return to action September 5th.

Coming up this Saturday August 29th is the return of the Sprint Cars of New England plus the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds King of the Hill points competition. Sponsored by Optical Expressions Barre VT. The 95.3/107.1 The Wolf weekly racing series division on hand will be the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, the Wells River Chevrolet-part of the Auto Saver Group DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Sportsman Modifieds Limiteds, High Country Dispensary Late Models, LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks, and the Woodsville Power Equipment Bobcat Ridge Runners.
