Robby Sawyer has achieved a major milestone in his career, securing his first-ever Pro Late Model victory and his first win in the CARS Tour West competition. The Bakersfield native took the checkered flag at the JM Environmental 125 at All American Speedway, marking a significant step in his transition from dirt modifieds to asphalt racing.
Sawyer credits his success to consistent improvement throughout the 2026 season, despite the challenges of adapting to pavement racing. He noted the difficulty of the transition, emphasizing that he had to completely change his driving style to master the demands of racing on asphalt.
The race itself was anything but smooth. Sawyer had to fight through a chaotic field, eventually gaining control of the race after an incident involving other drivers. Despite the intense competition, he managed to hold his position and finish atop the field.
The outcome of the race also had implications for the championship standings. While Kyle Keller finished third, the victory kept the Pro Late Model championship fight between Keller and Sawyer alive heading into the next race.
