Barre, VT — After a stellar visit to Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday, the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour returns home to Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont for the 48th EastRise Credit Union Labor Day Classic 200 this Sunday, September 6. Sunday’s extra-distance affair will tie a bow atop a grueling four weeks of non-stop travel from Groveton, New Hampshire to Quebec City, Western Maine and back to Central Vermont.
After recovering from a lap four penalty for his involvement with Derek Gluchacki’s spin at the front of the field on Saturday, Gabe Brown powered back to the front of the 37-car starting field at Oxford and won further padding his point lead over Kaiden Fisher. Brown’s Factory 47 garage also turns the wrenches on Fisher’s S.D. Ireland Concrete machine with Fisher rebounding from a blown motor at Groveton to a $10,000 win at Montmagny and a runner-up finish at Oxford 250 weekend.
Sitting in third is West Burke’s Jesse Switser who kicked off this four-week stretch with a win in the Great North Woods 150 at Groveton’s Riverside Speedway back on August 16. Switser took a strong top-ten finish at Montmagny the week after but a rough and tumble twelfth place finish at Oxford on Saturday has him 78 points behind Fisher and 120 behind Brown. While not out of the question with four events remaining, it’s sure to be an uphill battle for Switser.
Blainville, Quebec’s Jonathan Bouvrette has quietly been putting together one of his strongest career seasons in the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour with six top-ten finishes so far. While Thunder Road has not always been kind to the former Serie ACT Quebec champion, Bouvrette is looking for his first career top-five finish in the final ACT standings on the US-side along with fellow full-time Quebecer Remi Perreault.
Erick Sands may not consider Thunder Road his favorite track, but he earned his career-best Thunder Road finish with a third-place trophy in this very event back in 2024. Sands is coming off two top-five finishes during this four-straight stretch and is certainly one that could keep the momentum going this Sunday.
Both Cole Littlewood and Aaron Fellows are coming off strong runs at Oxford on Saturday with Littlewood earning his career best Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour finish in a seventh-place run. They are joined by rookie Geoff Rollins, looking for redemption after an early wreck on Saturday, and Jason Corliss who is always a threat at his hometrack in the Hartwell Motorsports machine.
Along with Corliss, the weekly Maplefields/Irving Late Model competitors are set to turn out to defend the home turf. Former track champions Christopher Pelkey and Nick Sweet, 2021 Labor Day Classic winner Brooks Clark, 2020 ACT Champion Jimmy Hebert, multi-time Vermont Governor’s Cup winner Cody Blake and King of the Road hopefuls Brandon Gray, Taylor Hoar and Brandon Lanphear are among the early entries for Sunday’s EastRise Credit Union Labor Day Classic 200.
The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour is back in action Sunday evening at Thunder Road International Speedbowl for the 48th EastRise Credit Union Labor Day Classic 200! The trip home to the Nation’s Site of Excitement is complete with action from the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks, Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors and the debut of the Crown Vics at Thunder Road with a 4:00pm twilight start time!
