The CARS Tour has issued a penalty to driver Justin Carroll, fining him $250 for a weight infraction. The penalty was issued for the loss of unsecured weight, which violates Section 8.13 of the CARS Tour Rule Book.
The infraction involved the No. 44 car driven by Conner Jones. Carroll explained that the team was too heavy when they went through Friday tech day. To correct this, they took some weight out before qualifying. Unfortunately, a small piece they thought was the only one removed ended up flying out of the rail during the qualifying attempt.
Carroll confirmed that no one was injured during the race. Tour officials ensured compliance by requiring the team to roll back to the scales after qualifying to verify that they were still within legal weight limits.
