Barre, VT – After rain washed away plans back in July, Thunder Road officials are beyond thrilled to bring back the folks at Bergamot + Amor and Calkins Portable Toilets to finally present Ken Squier’s World Famous Port-a-Potty Grand Prix this Thursday, September 17. As the championship chase comes down to the final two Thursdays at the Nation’s Site of Excitement, the Port-a-Potty Grand Prix will bring one of the more unique opportunities for bragging rights this week!
Jason Corliss maintains a 26-point lead ahead of last week’s winner Brandon Gray in the Maplefields/Irving Late Model ranking. Gray’s second win of the season certainly helped eat away some of Corliss’ lead but he’ll have to maintain two stellar Thursdays in these last two championship-counting events for a chance to claim his first King of the Road track title.
Wolcott’s Brendan Moodie holds a 66-point lead ahead of Northfield’s Cooper French in the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger standings. Both top point drivers have struggled to make it up through the pack in recent weeks, still maintaining top-ten finishes but unable to fight for the win as Logan Powers, Luke Peters and Myers Container Triple Crown champ Derrick Calkins have turned up the wick.
After a disastrous ending to Thursday’s rough-and-tumble feature, Hayden Bushey has lost the point lead back to Tyler Wheatley with just two events left on the schedule. Wheatley’s victory to Bushey’s 19th-place finish, after a late-race wreck forced the Fairfax driver pitside, has built a 13-point cushion between the two. It could be ‘Lucky 13’ or just the opposite for both drivers as they are each chasing their first title at Thunder Road.
Along with the thrilling championship chase, the Rookie of the Year title has also swapped hands in the rk Miles Street Stocks. Mechanical woes for long-time freshman leader Zachary Garvey created the deficit and allowed Riley Morris to surpass him for the lead. The slim 6-point margin could swap again this week with the four-cylinders again proving to be some of the highest competition in the region!
The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also return for the final two Thursdays. Although the Warriors don’t tally points for the season, they may just have the most fun on Thursday nights and it’ll certainly be the case once again on Bergamot + Amor / Calkins Portable Toilets Night! Two-time winner Taylor Sayers has been elected to represent the Road Warriors in the Port-a-Potty Grand Prix alongside point leaders Jason Corliss, Brendan Moodie and Tyler Wheatley.
Thunder Road is back in action this Thursday, September 17 for the rain-delayed Bergamot + Amor / Calkins Portable Toilets Night. Along with the world-famous Port-a-Potty Grand Prix, the Maplefields/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks continue their 2026 track championship journey alongside the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors with a special 6:30pm Post Time.
Grandstands open at 4:30pm with Adult General Admission set at $15, Kids 6-12 are $5 and Children five and under are free. The Family Four Pack (two adults, two kids) is available for $30.
