PULEO MAKES ALL THE RIGHT MOVES FOR FIFTH SK MODIFIED(R) WIN; HADLEY STORMS TO SK LIGHT VICTORY AFTER THREE-WIDE MOVE
WATERFORD - The Right of Way Solutions LLC 200 was a culmination of extra distance races that concluded with a 50 lap SK Modified(R) race. Derek Ramstrom who was fast when the sun was out lost positions while Timmy Jordan took the initial lead. If you blinked you missed Jon Puleo work his way into second by lap two. By lap seven, the 7-car had the lead. Todd Owen and Anthony Flannery slipped by Jordan to make up the top three and began pulling away from the field. Owen attempted to take the lead but Flannery moving into second hurt his chances. The top three ran nose to tail for much of the race, but it wasn't until just after halfway until you could see Puleo having a clear advantage. He started building a cushion and went unchallenged the rest of the way for his fifth win of the season with Flannery extending his point lead in second over Owen.
Mayhem on lap 1 of the Late Models sent Aaron Plemons to the pits with a flat tire. Shawn Gaedeke and Corey Fanning took over the front row and they fired off strong along with Ray Christian III and Diego Monahan. They stayed in a pack for the early stages of the 40 lap race allowing Randy Cole and Ayla Martin to catch up. A lap-10 restart had Gaedeke clear for the lead, but Monahan moved in not long after. They stay side-by-side for a few laps with Christian trying to make some 3-wide moves down low that didn't stick, and Cole laid back waiting for an opening. At the halfway point, disaster for the top two struck as Gaedeke drifted the wall after hard contact and Monahan backed it in. The rest of the race was owned by Christian who kept a safe bubble ahead of Cole to win for the seventh time. Martin rounded out the podium for her first time.
Will Anderson held Riley Paul and Milania Shilosky at bay for the first 10 laps of the SK Lights until the caution flew. The three drivers built themselves a safe cushion until this point, that was lost when Kevin Davis moved into third on the restart. Davis moved into second by Paul just short of halfway with Ryan Charland attempting to make the same move a few laps after. Anderson and Davis had a half straightaway lead over the field that was erased when the caution flew with three to go. Anderson took off from the outside on the restart when Paul shot fire out of the exhaust with the caution saving his spot for an incident in the back. Anderson then chose the inside on the restart over Davis and the two spent the next laps side-by-side. With two to go, Anderson opened the door down low just enough for Jordan Hadley to sneak in after restarting fifth to win with a thrilling three-wide move. Davis collected his car to finish second as Anderson fell to third.
Adam Coutu was having a season high run in the Street Stocks after coming off a heat race win. He led the start of the feature over Jon Porter who did not make it easy. Porter was heavy on the attacks as the laps clicked off trying to get the lead, but also keeping ahead of Chad Baxter and Brandon Warren. Lap 9 the caution flew for a minor spin, and Coutu shot off in the lead. It wouldn't last as a quick caution came out again and this time Porter and Baxter took over the top two spots and Mike Caprio fighting with Warren for third. Point contender Al Stone III tried to make a three-wide move inside to land on the podium but would come out on the losing end shuffling back. Up at the front, Baxter started his attacks on Porter with five laps to go, but Porter held strong and took home the hardware with Caprio earning a podium run in his first start.
A lap one caution at the start of the Legend Car race delayed the start of the race. But when the green flag dropped the second time Wade Oemcke held Parker Davis on the outside for a high speed pace lap over numerous laps. Oemcke won the battle over its' course and Davis slipped back through the pack taking PJ Evans with him. Now up front, Oemcke and TJ Sansoucy paced the field while Evans had to maneuver more traffic. With eight laps to go, Evans found his recovery fruitful as he moved into second by Sansoucy. Immediately he got to work on Oemcke, going side by side for a full lap before clearing for the lead. Oemcke bobbled a little opening the door for Davis who had also recovered from being in traffic in the final laps. Evans picked up his fifth win in six starts while overcoming the odds.
Ray Reed started off the Crown Vic race strong powering around the outside of Joseph Sinclair on the start. He would bobble briefly enough to allow Jack Emerson to stick his nose on the inside where the two raced side-by-side for a few laps until Emerson could clear. Reed kept in the gas and dove back underneath to take the lead back until a caution flew on lap 7. Reed stayed strong holding off attacks from Emerson but he would once again get a nose underneath on lap 12. Emerson cleared for the lead and pushed his car to the limit to keep it, holding off numerous attacks for the remainder of the race. His sixth win in a row and eighth of the season sets him up comfortably for The Finale.
Jim Bavolacco scored his second Compact Enduro win of the season, narrowly holding off Kyle Johnson in the closing laps.
Two more big events remain on the 2026 calendar. Up first on October 3rd and 4th is The Finale where we close out our point seasons with a 100-lap $5000 to win SK Modified(R) main event.
