The ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville on September 25-26, 2026, featured a dramatic battle for second place between Corey Heim and Treyten Lapcevich. Both drivers were vying for a top finish, but neither could overcome Caden Kvapil, who managed to pass Heim in the final quarter of the race. Lapcevich ultimately secured the runner-up position after a spirited battle that continued into overtime.
The intense competition continued after the checkered flag. In turn one, Corey Heim made contact with Treyten Lapcevich, launching him over the No. 77. Lapcevich was left destroyed in turn two. While Heim managed to limp his car back to the pits, the incident set the stage for a heated confrontation following the race.
The drama did not end on the track. Lapcevich attempted to confront Heim on pit road, but his team owner, Chad Bryant, intervened. Later, near the Martinsville Hot Dog stand, Heim was reportedly jumped by members of the Bryant Racing team, leading to further verbal tensions.
