Battle Sets New NESS Season Win Mark at Thompson Speedway

Pro All Stars Series·

Jeffrey Battle continued his dominant run in the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) this past Saturday, October 10, securing his seventh NESS victory of the 2026 season at Thompson Speedway. The Dunstable, Massachusetts driver took the lead on a lap 10 restart, breaking his previous record of six wins set during the 2025 season.

The 40-lap feature saw former champion Dan Bowes start on the pole and lead the initial eight laps. However, Bowes's race ended early when his machine became uncontrollable in turn three, leading to a spin caused by a flat right rear tire and cracked wheel. Battle subsequently battled Derek Griffith and Matt Swanson through the traffic on the 5/8-mile oval.

Battle ultimately walked away with the victory by 2.486 seconds. Matt Swanson managed to sneak past Griffith on the final lap to take second place, while Griffith rounded out the podium in third. P.J. Stergios finished fourth, and Russ Wood completed the top five in fifth.

With this win, Battle solidified his point lead and now only needs to start the season finale at Lee USA Speedway to clinch his second consecutive NESS championship.
