NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suárez will bring his inspirational story to students at three Phoenix-area schools on Thursday, Oct. 15, as he prepares to compete in the Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday.
Suárez will visit The Creighton Academy, Paseo Point Dual Language Academy, and Desert Edge High School, sharing his journey from growing up in Mexico to reaching the highest levels of NASCAR and encouraging students to pursue their dreams through hard work, determination, and perseverance. As part of the school visits, Freeway Insurance will make donations to each school and provide students with tickets to attend the Freeway Insurance 500 on Sunday at Phoenix Raceway and cheer on Suarez as he takes on the NASCAR Cup Series field.
The school visit schedule is set for 9 a.m. at The Creighton Academy (2802 E. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85008), 11 a.m. at Paseo Point Dual Language Academy (8800 S. 55th Ave., Laveen, AZ 85339), and 1:30 p.m. at Desert Edge High School (15778 W. Yuma Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85338).
“Daniel Suárez represents so much of what we want young people to see in a NASCAR driver — talent, perseverance, passion, and an unwavering belief in what is possible,” said Phoenix Raceway President Latasha Causey. “We are incredibly proud to have Daniel and Freeway Insurance investing their time and resources in our local schools. Giving students the opportunity to hear Daniel’s story, dream bigger, and then experience NASCAR in person at Phoenix Raceway is a powerful way to give back to our community.”
Suárez, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, began racing go-karts at a young age before rising through the ranks of motorsports in Mexico and the United States. Suarez became the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship and has continued to make history as one of the sport’s most prominent drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Known for his determination and passion for inspiring the next generation, Suárez has become an important ambassador for NASCAR’s growing Latino fan base. His path to the Cup Series is a story of overcoming challenges, embracing opportunities, and pursuing a dream on an international stage.
“Daniel's journey is a powerful reminder that where you start does not define how far you can go,” said Rose Carter, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Freeway Insurance. “At Freeway, we believe in opening doors, creating opportunities, and supporting the communities we serve. We're proud to partner with Daniel and Phoenix Raceway to bring his inspiring story directly to students, support their schools, and give them the opportunity to experience the excitement of NASCAR firsthand. We hope they walk away knowing that with determination and hard work, their dreams are within reach.”
Following the school visits, Suárez will join former DAYTONA 500 champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at Phoenix Raceway Fan Fest powered by Freeway Insurance at Heritage Square and Science Park in Downtown Phoenix. The free-to-the-public event will take place from 4-7 p.m. and will feature live entertainment, incredible photo opportunities, jaw-dropping show cars, interactive displays, driver appearances, and much more.
Racing action begins at Phoenix Raceway on Friday with the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Chase race, followed by a Saturday doubleheader with the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and ARCA Menards Series West. That sets the table for Sunday’s Freeway Insurance 500, where Suarez will return to the track ready to battle for another NASCAR Cup Series victory.
