The 2026 season for the zMAX CARS Tour's Late Model Stock and Pro Late Model divisions culminates this weekend at South Boston Speedway. The event marks the fifth time South Boston has hosted the season finale for the CARS Tour platform. On Saturday, the field saw significant championship action, with Bobby McCarty securing his third CARS LMSC Tour title, while Carson Kvapil successfully claimed the final Super Late Model Tour championship.
The Late Model Stock Championship was decided earlier in the year when Caden Kvapil secured the title at Newport Speedway. Kvapil, who has achieved the rare feat of winning the ValleyStar Credit Union 300, the Virginia Triple Crown, and the CARS LMSC Tour title in the same season, aims to cap off his stellar campaign with a victory at South Boston. Meanwhile, in the Pro Late Model division, Mason Walters is fighting for the championship, needing a perfect outing to join Kvapil and others as a CARS Tour champion.
The Pro Late Model battle is tight, with Conner Jones also in contention. Jones, who has competed in both the LMSC and PLM divisions, is cautiously optimistic about his chances against Walters. Brody Monahan also remains mathematically eligible for the PLM Tour title, having secured two victories this season. All three drivers are focused on maximizing points during the finale.
South Boston Speedway remains a vital hub for short track competition in the Commonwealth of Virginia, boasting one of the most competitive Late Model Stock fields in the southeast. The track, which is 0.400 miles long, hosts 125 laps for the LMSC and 100 laps for the PLM, providing a high-stakes conclusion to a busy 2026 season.
