Thompson, CT — Thompson Speedway will once again host three important events in the 2027 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour title chase. For the first time since 2016 the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season will open with the famed Icebreaker 150 in April and close with the 65th Sunoco World Series in October along with the popular Wednesday Night Race at Thompson on August 4.

While the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returned to Icebreaker Weekend after a short hiatus in 2024, the yearly opener for the New England racing season hasn’t been the first event for NASCAR’s longest-running division since 2016, following nearly a decade of trips to the Southeastern United States. Sunday, April 4 will kick off the 2027 schedule with fifteen dates on the calendar.

The NASCAR stars return to the Big-T for the annual Wednesday Night Race on August 4 before making their final stop of the season at the 65th Sunoco World Series on Sunday, October 10.

“Both Tom (Mayberry) and I were proud to host the championship event at this year’s Sunoco World Series and we’re excited to bookend the 2027 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season,” said American-Canadian Tour managing partner Cris Michaud. “Thompson Speedway is the home of the Tour and we’re looking forward to hosting these three important showcases next year.”

Promoters Tom Mayberry with the Pro All Stars Series and Cris Michaud with the American-Canadian Tour have signed on to present oval racing for the eighth consecutive year at Thompson Speedway in 2027. The full schedule and planned divisions, alongside the three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour dates, will be released by the beginning of December.
