BJ McLeod is making a move into the Super Late Model ranks, joining the Rick Ware Racing organization. After testing a Super Late Model at New Smyrna Speedway this past Wednesday, McLeod confirmed his intention to compete in short track events under the Ware banner.
The new schedule kicks off this weekend at New Smyrna with the Hart to Heart Super Late Model 60. McLeod brings a strong background to the program, having previously competed in Cup Series and O’Reilly Series events for Ware over the last decade.
Prior to his national touring career, McLeod was a successful short track competitor, particularly in Florida. His accomplishments include winning the 2006 Bright House Challenge Series championship and claiming the 2010 World Series of Asphalt title at New Smyrna.
McLeod stated that Super Late Model racing is where he got his start and that he and Rick Ware share a mutual goal: to win. His schedule will be sporadic, revolving around his commitments to NASCAR's national touring series.
