Treyten Lapcevich secured a victory at the CARS Tour finale held at South Boston Speedway, marking a significant debut for the driver within the JR Motorsports organization. Lapcevich successfully outpaced his teammate, Caden Kvapil, during a dramatic 10-lap duel that defined the latter half of the race.
Kvapil, who had led much of the first half of the event, was ultimately unable to hold off Lapcevich during the intense battle. Lapcevich, who finished second in the standings prior to this race, has been working toward a national touring career and gained valuable experience sharing a ride with Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the No. 8 car.
Both drivers commented on the competitive nature of the race. Kvapil admitted that while he was initially strong, he struggled to keep up with Lapcevich's pace in the closing stages. He stated that despite finishing second, he was not upset, noting that the battle was enjoyable and that Lapcevich is a "really cool" teammate.
Lapcevich, meanwhile, expressed his appreciation for the professional competition. He thanked JR Motorsports and Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the opportunity, noting that he aimed to keep the action clean while battling Kvapil, whom he called a great competitor.
