Florence Motor Speedway, the historic 4/10-mile short track located in Timmonsville, South Carolina, has announced that it will cease hosting races after 2026. Owner and track promoter Steve Zacharias confirmed that despite efforts to keep the venue running since taking the helm in 2020, the seasons have become increasingly challenging.

The track, which has been active since 1982, gained significant attention when it began hosting a CARS Super Late Model Tour event in 2020. The series has raced at FMS every season since, drawing support from series co-owner and fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr. The venue has also hosted the South Carolina 400, which will hold its 34th iteration this November, alongside a monster trucks race and the South Carolina 250.

The most recent CARS Tour event took place over a month ago during Labor Day weekend, featuring guest racers Shane Van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch. Zacharias stated that the focus is now on concluding 2026 with the final three events: the 2X Monster Trucks, the South Carolina 250, and the 34th Annual South Carolina 400.

The track also took over the Icebreaker race in 2021 following the demolition of Myrtle Beach Speedway. Zacharias concluded his statement by wishing all surrounding race tracks and touring series in the region the best for 2027 and beyond.
