Smith Claims $50K Win After Baldwin DQ at Mobile Speedway

Dustin Smith was declared the winner of the Heart of Dixie 200 at Mobile Speedway after a post-race technical inspection led to the disqualification of initial race winner Luke Baldwin.

The disqualification stemmed from infractions found during the inspection of engine components, specifically measurements of the rod bearings and lifters. Following the review, Smith submitted his engine for the same teardown procedure and was officially declared the victor.

Smith and Baldwin engaged in a tight, door-to-door battle for the lead in the final five laps. After Baldwin crossed the finish line first, the technical inspection overturned the result. With Baldwin removed, Michael Atwell advanced to second place.

Smith expressed mixed feelings about the victory, stating that while he disliked winning under those circumstances, he was pleased that his engine, built by Robbie White, was compliant. He noted that the win made him $50,000 richer, adding that he felt he ran one of the best races at the track.
