BLR to appeal Heart of Dixie disqualification

Bryson-Lopez Racing (BLR) announced plans to appeal the post-race disqualification of their number 47 entry, driven by Luke Baldwin, following Saturday’s Heart of Dixie 200 at Mobile International Speedway. Although Baldwin crossed the finish line in first place, the car failed subsequent post-race inspection, leading the team to question the interpretation of the Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders (S.E.A.L.) rulebook.

The team stated that BLR and Clark Automotive are filing the appeal due to discrepancies found in the S.E.A.L. Alliance rules and how they were applied during the event. Chief technical inspector Ricky Brooks revealed that during a post-race teardown, rod bearings and lifters in the engine were found to be out of compliance.

Following the disqualification of the first-place car, second-place finisher Dustin Smith had his engine inspected and passed. Smith was subsequently declared the winner of the event and was paid the $50,000.00 winning prize money. Clark Automotive, the engine builder of record, has declined to comment on the situation.
