Dowling Captures Tri Track 100 Victory

Winchester, NH –The marquee event of this past Sunday at the high banks of Monadnock Speedway was the Tri-Track Open Modified 100.  Thirty-one cars signed in to participate, twenty-six qualified for the race.  Monadnock Speedway regular Ben Byrne of Greenfield, MA, led the field to the green and led the race for sixty-eight laps before ceding the lead to Rhode Island driver Richard Savary. His hold on the top spot lasted until lap ninety-three when Chase Dowling slipped by for the lead and the six thousand dollar plus payday. Savary was second. Seventeen year-old rookie driver Jacob Perry of Stonington, CT, was third. The race was slowed by ten cautions.

Prior to leading the Tri-Track 100 lapper, Ben Byrne romped to his fourth win of the season in Monadnock’s Sportsman Modified division. Bryne took the lead from Cameron Houle of Lancaster, MA, on lap nine and cruised to victory lane.  Newly-crowned Claremont Motorsport Park champion, Brian Robie of Sunapee, NH, rode into second. Scott MacMichael of Newport, NH was awarded third.

Vernon, VT’s, Solomon Brow reasserted his dominance in the Late Model Sportsman division by returning to victory lane for the twelfth time this season.  He caught early leader, Robert Hagar, on lap nineteen of the 25-lap feature then pulled away for the win.  Hagar held on for second. Cole Littlewood posted another podium finish in third. Brow joined legendary driver, Dave Grantz, with twelve wins in a season.

The Street Stock feature was paced by David Greenslit of Claremont, NH. Coming into the night, Greenslit had slim eight point advantage over Chris Buffone for the point lead. The outcome did not change things. Greenslit added another win to his season record. Buffone complete the 25-lap feature in second. Hillary Renaud of Vernon, VT, ran third to gain her first podium of the season. Greenslit’s win comes on the heels of securing the season Street Stock championship at Claremont.

C.J. Johnson of Keene, NH, had taken a few years off from racing, but returned to the winner’s circle taking the checkers in the Pure Stock 25-lap feature. He eased by early leader, Rich Hammann of Tolland, CT, on lap nine and out-ran Cooper Roberge of Milford, NH,and Erin Aikens of Claremont.  After a post-race inspection, Johnson was disqualified awarding the win to Roberge.
