Granite State Pro Stock Series headed to Thompsons World Series Next

As has become tradition, The Granite State Pro Stock Series heads to the world series at Thompson Speedway on Friday evening October 11. A full card of racing will be headlined by the traveling pro stocks as the series contests a fifty lap feature following two rounds of qualifying. For the first time ever at the 5/8 mile oval, time trials will be held to determine heat race line ups in the Crazy Horse Racing race for the pole.

Joey Doiron comes into the event with a comfortable 55 point advantage in the season long point standings. Despite a short night at the series last race at Lee Speedway, the driver from Maine continues to be a force in the 2019 season. Doiron looks to improve on last years performance where a broken part ended his night before half way.

A strong third place run at Lee moved Ray Christian III up to second in the standings heading to one of his favorite tracks. “I can’t wait to get to Thompson. We are really good there”, said Christian after the Lee race. When asked why, he responded, “I don’t really know, I really like the big fast tracks and we have a good setup for them”.

Devin O’Connell had a rough night at Lee and has made the decision to go back to the car he ran last year. That car took a hard hit early in the year and was down for repairs but the Madison CT team has decided to try to get it back together and run it at Thompson.

Both O’Sullivan brothers have filed entries. Mike will have some work to do to get ready after a hard hit at Lee, while Tommy will drive one of two cars out of Wright Pearsons shop. The O’Sullivan family has a strong history at the speedway going back to cars fielded by father Tom for various drivers.

The second of Pearson’s cars will be piloted by Maine driver Brandon Barker who finished fourth at Lee and has two wins with the GSPSS in the last year. He will make his first series start at Thompson Friday night.

Cory Casagrande has filed an entry for Thompson. The Stafford Springs CT driver has run several events with the GSPSS this season finding some success. He comes to one of his favorite tracks with high hopes of scoring his first win in a pro stock.

Seekonk third place finisher Reid Lanpher has filed an entry along with former series regular Nick Loscoula and second generation racer Ryan Kuhn. Rookie of the year contender Jake Matheson will also race at Thompson, the biggest track he has ever run at in a full sized car.

Another youngster, Jimmy Renfrew Jr is coming off a second place finish at Lee and and looks to carry the momentum into a track he lists as one of his favorites, while veteran Ben Rowe and his Richard Moody racing team have filed an entry as well.

Other entrants include Rhode Island drivers Mike Mitchell and Bobby Pelland and Vermont racers Josh King and Todd Stone.
