Gray Takes Top Spot Late for Rusty’s Towing Enduro Win

N. Woodstock, NH – E. Thetford, VT’s Brandon Gray took it to the bank at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, October 5 by scoring the win in the Rusty’s Towing & Recovery Enduro. Gray came out on top of a back-and-forth battle with Orleans, VT’s Cody Hodge to grab the victory and the $3,000 top prize.

Hodge had dominated much of the season-ending event, which was shortened to 127 laps from the originally scheduled 200. However, Gray was able to run him down late in the going, setting up a shootout over the final laps. Gray took the lead from Hodge with 11 laps to go and seemed poised for the victory. But Hodge wasn’t done and swiped the top spot back from Gray with six circuits remaining.

Gray wasn’t done, though, either. He retook the lead from Hodge just as the red flag came out with three laps to go when Jason Wyman rear-ended the stopped Justin Blakely machine. When the green flag came back out, Gray held off Hodge over a 2+-lap sprint to the finish for the $3,000 victory.

Derby Line, VT’s Kyle Willis finished in third. Brian Newton, Bill Davis, Hunter Wilkins, Steven Parker II, Mike Mayberry, Jamie Heath, and Michael Norcross completed the top-10.

Contoocook’s Emerson Cayer was also a big winner on Saturday as he triumphed in the $1,500-to-win North East Mini Stock Tour (NEMST) Four-Cylinder Nationals. Berlin’s Cody LeBlanc dominated most of the 100-lap main event, and at one point, he had lapped all but the top-five cars.

However, the power steering on LeBlanc’s car began to go away around the 70-lap mark, and as a result, Cayer and Matt Sonnhalter were able to run him down. Cayer eventually got the lead with 12 laps to go and beat out Sonnhalter. It was the second straight win in the Four-Cylinder Nationals for the multi-time NEMST Champion.

E. Thetford, VT’s Sonnhalter finished second. Andover’s Mat Boucher took third after LeBlanc blew an engine with three laps remaining. Erin Aiken, Joe Katola, Louis Maher, Jason Kimball, Isaac Rollins, Tommy Silva, and Desmond Skillings rounded out the top-10.

Bethlehem’s Dustin Jackson capped his remarkable season with the win in the $500-to-win special for the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Back Strictly Stock Mini’s. Jackson, the newly-crowned Strictly Stock Mini track champion, started sixth in the 50-lap event. He was already up to second on lap eight when the first caution flew for Nick Ogden’s spin

On the restart, Jackson swiped the lead from the hands of N. Woodstock’s Jason Fallman. Two more cautions came out on lap 18, including an incident involving Jamie Ball on the restart that drew a red flag. But there was no stopping Jackson as he drove off to his fifth win of the season.

Fallman chased Jackson the whole way but settled for second. Barton, VT’s Adam Sicard came in third. Colby Bourgeois, Adde MacDonald, Brett Jackson, Jillian Baumgardner, Darren Newland, John Knight, and Todd Barrington also earned top-10 finishes.

The White Mountain Motorsports Park 2019 racing season is now completed. The Banquet of Champions will be held Saturday, November 2 at the Days Inn of Lincoln, NH. Schedule and rules information for the 2020 season will be released over the coming months.
