Granite State Pro Stock Series Headed to Speedbowl for Finale
The Granite State Pro Stock Series will wrap up its 2020 season and crown their champion with a one hundred lap event at the New London Waterford Speedbowl, Saturday October 24th.
Joey “Pole” Polewarczyk came into the season intending to run a partial season but early success changed the Hudson NH drivers plans and he comes to Waterford as the series point leader. “I really enjoy going to Waterford and we are going there with the same mind set we’ve had all year” said Polewarczyk. “ Obviously we need to be smart, but we hope to be competing for the win” He went on to say “I’m extremely proud of our team to be in the position we are in, headed into the final race”.
Ray Christain III kicked off the 2020 season with a pair of wins and cruised through the summer as the series points leader. Mechanical issues at the fall Claremont race and a hard crash at the first Waterford event have the Uncasville CT driver coming to his home track with a substantial deficit to make up in the standings. Christain III picked up his first Pro Stock win at the CT shoreline oval and hopes to get another one this weekend.
Angelo Belsito comes into this race mathematically eliminated from championship contention, but looks to end the season on a high note and could take over the second spot in the standings if things fall his way. The Auburn MA driver won a pair of races earlier in the season but has struggled down the stretch.
Last time the series visited The Speedbowl David Darling put on a clinic, dominating the second half of the race, at times leading by a full straightaway. The seven time Seekonk Speedway champion will look to repeat that feet on Saturday.
Casey Call has locked up the rookie of the year award and comes back to the track where he arguably had his best career run. Despite fading late in the 150 lap race, the youngster turned some heads and let the competition know he would be a force in the future. Call comes into this race looking to better his finish and crack the podium for the first time in a full sized race car.
2019 series champion Joey Doiron will compete at Waterford and will be back in Wright Pearson’s potent sixteen machine. The duo finished second at the Lee Oktoberfest to add to a win earlier in the season.
Other past champions to file entries include two time champion Mike O’Sullivan who clinched his second championship at the CT oval and 2018 champion Devon O’Connell who has been nursing a shoulder injury.
Local Hot Shoes Tyler Tomassi and Alexander Pearl have both files entries. These talented youngsters competed at the first Waterford event and will look to improve upon their results.
Several former Seekonk Speedway regulars have filed entries including Tom Scully JR, Dylan Estralla, Mike Mitchell and Ryan Kuhn who finished second at this track last time out. Look for all of these drivers to be fast at a track that is a short distance from home.
The Crazy Horse Racing Fast Time Challenge will kick things off shortly after 2 pm followed by heat races and the 100 lap main event.
