Thompson Announces Initial Division List for 58th World Series
Track Also Adds SK Lights to September 2 Program
Thompson, CT — American-Canadian Tour (ACT), Pro All Stars Series (PASS), and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park officials have announced the initial list of participants for the 58th World Series of Speedway Racing. Fifteen divisions and touring series have been confirmed for the event scheduled for Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13. Additional divisions could be added as discussions continue.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will once again return to the World Series for a 150-lap event. The NASCAR Modifieds have been part of every World Series since the touring era began in 1985, making this their 36th consecutive appearance at the prestigious event.
ACT, PASS Reach Agreement to Promote Multiple Events at Thompson Speedway
Waterbury, VT and Naples, ME — The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) have reached an agreement with Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park to promote multiple events at the Thompson, CT oval track this season. The events will be the first held on the historic 5/8-mile speedway in 2020 after multiple postponements and cancellations due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
The first event ACT and PASS are hosting at Thompson Speedway has been set for Wednesday, September 2 and features a visit from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. They will then promote the 58th annual World Series of Speedway Racing from Friday, October 9 through Sunday, October 11. The organizations are currently in talks with track ownership regarding the 2021 season and beyond.
Econn Motorsports and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Announce 2020 Oval Track Plans
Econn Motorsports and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park announced today an agreement that will enable oval track racing to continue on the famed 5/8th mile at Thompson CT. A tentative 2020 schedule has been developed with the first event being an open practice on Wednesday July 8th.

THREE RACES TO PAYING $2,000 TO THE WINNER SET FOR DIVISION II CLASS
THOMPSON, Conn. — Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park and Save The Purse jointly announced on Thursday that competitors in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Late Model division will have three, 50-lap feature races in 2020 as part of a new Late Model Mid-Summer Challenge.
A group of competitors joined together over the offseason to form Save The Purse, a group that has come up with additional purse money through sponsors and have put it towards these special events. The group is run by recognized racing crew member Brad Martel.

THOMPSON, Conn. — After conversations with all stakeholders, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park announced on Tuesday the new date for the 46th annual Liquid Death Icebreaker weekend. The prestigious event is now tentatively set to take place May 15-16, including the headlining NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Death To Plastic 150.
Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, the date is tentative, as the situation is fluid and changes are occurring across the motorsports industry daily. A full schedule for the event will be released once available.
The original date for the Liquid Death Icebreaker, April 3rd-5th, was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but Thompson Speedway officials were committed to finding the right date and releasing it to the public as quickly as possible.
THOMPSON SPEEDWAY MOTORSPORTS PARK UPDATE ON COVID-19
THOMPSON, Conn. — Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and how it will affect our 2020 schedule. Due to Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont’s newest Executive Order and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggestions, Thompson Speedway will not hold the scheduled NASCAR Test & Tune originally scheduled for Saturday, March 21.
Also due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the 46th annual Liquid Death Icebreaker will not be completed in its regularly scheduled date of April 3rd-5th. After conversations with NASCAR and all stakeholders involved, Thompson Speedway is planning to announce a postponement date for the Icebreaker in a matter of just a few days. Competitors should note that there will be a practice day attached to the rescheduled Icebreaker, and any drivers who signed up for the March 21 test will be given top priority for a practice date that is to be determined.
