Press release from New London-Waterford Speedbowl

WATERFORD — When a race has a purse of $2,000 to win, people are going to notice it — especially past champions.
Jason Palmer, the four-time Legends champ at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, has noticed it. Joey Ternullo, the 2015 Wednesday night champ, has noticed. So has Cory DiMatteo, the 2015 Saturday champ.

Those are some of the drivers expected to be on hand Saturday for the 35-lap Summer Showdown, the most lucrative race of the Legends car season at the Speedbowl.

West Springfield teen making the move from karts to SK Lite Modifieds

WATERFORD — Unless the smoke is coming from a victory cigar, smoke on the race track usually means trouble.
That was the case for 17-year-old Alicia Bryden of West Springfield as she was preparing for her second career SK Lite Modified start at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on June 16.

“We went out for the third practice and we were running good laps,” Bryden said. “Then I heard a bing and I saw a bunch of smoke. I quickly pulled in because I thought the car may be on fire, but there was no fire. Instead a piston rod put a hole in the oil pan and we blew the motor.” (more…)
