Thunder Road Announces 19-Event Schedule for 2018 Season
Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road officials have announced the release of the 2018 schedule of events at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement”. Nineteen racing events are planned for the Barre high banks spanning late April until late September.
The 58th season of racing will open with the 20th annual Community Bank 150 on Sunday, April 29. The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) will make the first of two visits to Thunder Road in 2018. The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors will kick off their seasons as well. The Thunder Road Late Model “King of the Road” chase will begin at the 56th Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 27, which will again feature a visit from the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway Announces Special Award Nominees
Forty-six drivers on voting ballot for Sportsmanship, Most Improved honors
RUTLAND, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway has released the annual voting ballot for its annual special awards, with a total of 46 drivers nominated. The winners of the Sportsmanship and Most Improved Driver trophies, will be announced at the Banquet of Champions on Saturday, January 27 at the Holiday Inn Rutland-Killington in Rutland, Vermont.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway Banquet of Champions to be Held on January 27
Asphalt and Dirt drivers honored together in one-night celebration
RUTLAND, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway will celebrate the 2017 stock car racing season with a special one-night party on Saturday, January 27, 2018. The annual Banquet of Champions returns to the Holiday Inn Rutland-Killington in Rutland, Vt., for the sixth consecutive year and will reunite competitors from both the Asphalt and Dirt Tracks at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road Speedbowl honored the top performers of the 2017 racing season at the annual Banquet of Champions on Saturday, November 4 at the Barre Elks Club. Hundreds of drivers, crew members, and officials were in attendance to present season-long and special awards.
Bobby Therrien received the honors of “King of the Road” for his first championship in the Thunder Road Late Model division, while Jason Woodard and Jamie Davis were recognized for their second career championships in the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and Allen Lumber Street Stocks, respectively. Mike Martin earned the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series title for the Flying Tigers.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway to Race on Sunday Nights in 2018
Full event schedule to be announced by January 1
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway is getting back to basics, and that includes a return to Sunday night racing in 2018. As the historic Vermont stock car racing facility undergoes the process of having its half-mile track converted from asphalt surface to natural clay, speedway management is working diligently on the format for the 52nd season next summer. Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road officials announced today that Jason Woodard has been disqualified from his apparent victory in the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger Mini Milk Bowl held as part of the 55th Vermont Milk Bowl on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1.
As part of post-race technical inspection following the two-segment event, tire samples were taken from Woodard’s car and sent to an independent laboratory for further evaluation. Lab testing revealed that Woodard’s tire had been illegally altered.
