Barre, Vt. – Hometown driver Jason Corliss scored his third Thunder Road Late Model win of the season in dramatic fashion at Jet Service Envelope/Accura Printing Night on Thursday, August 24. The number-thee point driver fended off fellow Barre competitor Cody Blake and South Burlington’s Trampas Demers in a three-car thriller to take his seventh career Late Model victory in the Thursday night finale.

Corliss appeared to have the race in hand after getting the jump on Milton’s Eric Chase following the second and final restart on lap-29 of the 50-lap event and pulling out to a big advantage. But Blake reeled him in after getting around Chase and began looking to Corliss’ outside in the closing laps.

Quenneville Makes Devil’s Bowl Speedway History with Dual Surface Wins
Long-time competitor is first to win on dirt and asphalt tracks in same weekend

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Vince Quenneville Jr. made some stock car racing history at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, August 27. After winning the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature race on the 3/10-mile Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl on Sunday evening and one of two races on the 1/2-mile Asphalt Track on Saturday night, the Brandon, Vt., racer became the first driver to ever win on both surfaces in the same weekend. Other winners during the Sunday event included Bill Duprey, Chris Conroy, Aaron Mulready, and Evan Roberts.

Quenneville, a veteran of 30 years behind the steering wheel at Devil’s Bowl, turned a miserable month of dirt track results around with a dominant win in the 35-lap feature race for the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified division. Three tough races gave Quenneville a low handicap and the pole starting position for the race, but a quick car and Quenneville’s trademark flashy driving style in the corners did the rest of the work. Proctor, Lussier split Modified Twin 20s

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Dylan Rabtoy is emerging near the forefront of Vermont stock car racing’s youth movement, and on Saturday, August 19, he scored another victory for the youngsters at The Asphalt Track at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The 18 year-old from Swanton, Vt., topped the list of winners during the annual “C.J. Richards Memorial” event presented by Rutland Regional Medical Center, which also included Ron Proctor, Billy Lussier, Roo Forrest, Lynn Denton, Cory Gray, and Nate Corcoran.

Rabtoy’s win came in an exciting 50-lap feature race for the Rosen & Berger Auto Recyclers Super Stock division of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The majority of the race was an exciting battle between second-generation stars Rabtoy and rookie Kelsea Woodard. In just her fourth start in the Super Stock class, 16 year-old Woodard led the first three laps before Rabtoy got to the front. Rabtoy officially led every lap at the start/finish line from that point until the checkered flag, but the pair traded the point several times in the corners and the straights throughout the event.
