May Madness at Lee USA Speedway up next for GSPSS

Stop two for the Granite State Pro Stock Series will take place at The Lee USA Speedway in Lee NH on May 18 and 19. This will be one of three visits to the shoreline oval with the others happening Fourth of July weekend and the traditional Oktoberfest weekend.

The only Two day show on the 2019 schedule will see the Crazy Horse Racing race for the pole take place Saturday afternoon. Also on Saturday will be heat races to set the top eighteen spots on the starting grid. On Sunday there will be a consolation race to complete the starting line-up followed by the 150 lap main event.

2018 saw the GSPSS visit the third mile oval twice with Joe Squeglia and Brandon Barker taking home wins. This was the first series win for Barker as well as team owner Wright Pearson. “Hopefully the car goes as well for 150 laps as it did for 75” Barker stated. “I’m excited to go back since it’s where I got my first touring series win”. Both drivers have filed entries for this event and Barker will join Teammate Tommy Rosati as Pearson has entered two cars for this event.

Also on the preliminary entry list is 2018 series Champion Devin O’Connell who kicked off his title defense with a fifth place finish at Claremont Motorsports Park. O’Connell will be looking to improve on that result at the track where he made his first series start in 2017.

Opening night winner Joey Doiron has filed his entry for the Lee race and looks at the July race in 2018 as one of the races that short circuited his title hopes. “If we hadn’t wrecked at Lee and Thompson last year we would have been right in the championship hunt” said Doiron during a break in the action at Claremont Motorsports Park. “I just want to come out of Lee in one piece and go on from there”.

Local Hot shoe Jeremy Harcelrode has filed his entry for the race and hopes all the last minute preparations come together. During a conversation a week before the event he described what could prevent him from being there. “As long as the shock I have coming makes it in time I’ll be there” Harclerode stated. “We’ve had success at Lee and really want to run this race, we just need our right front shock to show up”.

Other relative locals on the pre-entry list include Jeremy Davis who has Lee listed as one of his favorite tracks and Jimmy Renfrew Jr who has had success there in a street stock and had good speed in his Pro Stock.

Former series champions Mike O’Sullivan and Barry Gray have both filed entries along with former series winners Todd Stone, Mike Mitchell and Matt Frahm Along with Maine racer’s Ryan Green, Jacob Dore and Dennis Spencer Jr.

Practice on Sat begins at noon with qualifying starting at 3:00. On Sunday Racing begins at 1:30 with consolation rounds followed by feature events including the $3000.00 to win 150 lap GSPSS headliner.
