Bonsignore Pounces Late for Whelen Modified Tour Independence Day Win
N. Woodstock, NH — Holtsville, NY’s Justin Bonsignore made it 2-for-2 on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 2020 season by capturing the inaugural Independence Day 200 at N. Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, July 4. Bonsignore made his move to get the lead from Northampton, PA’s “Big Money” Matt Hirschman on the 194th lap of the tour’s first visit to White Mountain before holding off Hirschman and six-time Whelen Modified Tour Champion Doug Coby on a green-white-checkered finish.
Prior to Bonsignore’s pass, Hirschman had lived up to his nickname, dominating the event from the pole. Coby had given Hirschman everything he could handle in the early stage of the event before Bonsignore got around him following a midrace caution triggered by Rob Summer’s ride into the turn-3 tire barrier. Following the fourth caution of the event on lap 137 for Walter Sutcliffe’s spin, Hirschman and Bonsignore drove away as the rest of the field duked it behind them.

N. Woodstock, NH – Island Pond, VT’s Derek Ming started the 2020 “King of the Mountains” championship chase in the best way possible by capturing the Foley Oil & Propane Late Model win at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, June 20. The veteran took the lead from South Barre, VT’s Mike Bailey on a lap-12 restart and sped off to victory in the first point-counting event of the year for the Late Model class.
Ming earned the fourth starting spot in qualifying for the 50-lap feature and was content to ride early as Bailey and Jon Savage swapped the lead back and forth. When the first caution flew on lap 8 for a crash involving Rhode Island invader Mike Benevides and rookie Andy Hill, Ming was running in the third spot behind the lead duo.
North Woodstock NH – Twenty-nine cars took the green flag for round two of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model 2020 season at White Mountain Motorsports Park (WMMP) on a hot, sweltering day with temperatures in the mid to high 80’s. Starting dead last in the field was the familiar 12G of Derek Griffith. 150 grueling laps later, Griffith pulled off the very rare worst-to-first accomplishment to take home the checkers on the high banked oval. Chasing him across the line was Tamworth’s Jeremy Davis and teenager Gabe Brown to fill out the podium. Griffith was understandably pleased with the result.

New Holiday Doubleheader Event Expected to be Announced Shortly
N. Woodstock, NH – White Mountain Motorsports Park (WMMP) and Monster Truck Throwdown officials announced today that the event scheduled for Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5 has been cancelled due to complications and restrictions in place related to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
While the decision had been made prior to new state guidelines allowing limited fan attendance, the guidelines now in place still would have kept many fans from attending who wished to. Furthermore, the Pit Party and several other important parts of the event could not happen due to required social distancing and other health/safety measures. These factors would have prevented the event from reaching its full potential.
